More About Me!
Before I moved Overseas…
My first campaign was Obama-Biden 2012, where I volunteered with North Carolina Democrats to get out the vote in my home town. When I graduated from university, I started working for Democratic Party campaigns in 2014, working with candidates and state party committees across the country.
Here is a short summary of past work!
Georgia Senate Democratic Caucus (2021-2023): Professionalized the Georgia Senate Democratic Caucus fundraising and digital programs by building up an annual budget from $300,000 to $1.3 million to win 2 new seats in the chamber in 2021.
Michigan House Democratic Fund (2018): Worked with Democratic elected officials and regional political directors to manage a $9 million budget supporting candidates across the state, leading to several red-to-blue pick ups and laying the ground for 2020 legislative flip.
Elizabeth Guzman for Virginia (2017, 2019): Elected the first Hispanic Woman to the Virginia legislature, leading to a legislative flip in 2019 and promulgating a progressive agenda in Virginia.
I have also had the privilege of working with other candidates, committees and nonprofit organizations on initiatives ranging from elections and advocacy to professional development and leadership support.
Many of them showed me what it is too fight for our values, and build a party that moves America forward!
DA Türkiye
When I moved to Istanbul to support my spouse and family, I got involved in Democrats Abroad!
I organized the members and other Americans in our member networks to start building a Country Committee in Türkiye or any organization active in the country. Our team organized across the country, learning from Democrats Abroad trainings, reaching out to our networks and creating plans and frameworks to help members vote in 2024.
Here is what we accomplished since September 2023!
We reactivated over 33% of the membership and recruited super volunteers across the country with hundreds of phone calls, emails and text messages.
Together with our volunteer leaders, we organized our Global Presidential Primary, bringing together disconnected communities of Americans for the first time since 2012.
For GOTV, we doubled the number of confirmed voters among our membership through targeted, multi-tactic outreach with our home grown GOTV team.
Held our Inaugural Annual General Meeting to reform the Country Committee and elect our new Executive Committee!
We are excited to ask to rejoin Democrats Abroad as a reformed Country Committee since 2012.
DPCA Representative
Non-Country Committees Communities
As a Non-CC Voting Representative, I worked with members without an organized country committee and the outgoing RVC on Party Building and GOTV for 2024.
Working with fellow Democratic Party leaders in countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, we built a network and community of members and organized them according to the best practices in community team building. Here were some of the results:
We raised the number of confirmed voting members by 34% in 2024, with some countries hitting over 200% confirmed voting.
The teams I recruited have organized regional networks in the Balkans, the Persian Gulf and Northwest Africa. Many submitted plans to develop teams and regional caucuses, while others are pursing organizing new country committees.
Working with the RVC and Global Team Members, I delivered material support to leaders in my area, Voter Assistance Trainings for volunteers, digital ad grants for GOTV outreach, NationBuilder access for leaders with definitive organizing plans, in addition to my own management and strategy tools.
I regularly participated in the Global and Regional GOTV Calls to share progress on voter turnout and assistance in the Non-CC community and worked closely with RVC and GOTV Coordinator to make sure we supported both voter turnout and party building.
Globally Engaged!
I have worked in a number of Democrats Abroad global committees, panels and teams since becoming a member.
Chair, Global Nominations and Elections Committee, 2023
Within 2 weeks of moving overseas, I got a phone asking if I would jump right into Democrats Abroad by chairing the Global Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) for the 2024 Executive Committee Elections. On an accelerated timeline, I brought my skills as a parliamentarian, nonprofit professional and past legislative caucus staffer to support the election process, including:
Global Meeting Parliamentarian (2023)
I served as Parliamentarian for the Global Executive Committee during the September and November Extraordinary Global Meetings. I supported the Chair in constructing the agenda, building team walkthroughs, and providing parliamentary assistance during the meeting. I have also, through reports and direct feedback, provided the Bylaws Reform Committee with suggestions to improve global meetings and elections.
Democratic National Committee Delegation (2024)
Elected by members from EMEA, I served as a regional Delegate to the Democratic National Convention. I also served as a Platform Committee Member. In both capacities, I represented the interests of members and Americans overseas, from successful insertion of amendments on voting rights in the National Platform to raising awareness about DA to my political networks back home.
Transnational Committee Taskforce (2024)
While serving as Non-Country Committee Representative, I served with the current Regional Vice Chair (RVC) on this task force to produce guidance for how to set up a Transnational Committee. The discussions and feedback from these discussions was informative and provided ideas to build sustainable and organized communities of DA members in EMEA countries without a country committee.
